NL: Matthijs Mesken new VGB director

Matthijs Mesken (49), the new director of VGB (Association of Wholesalers in Horticultural Products) will start his new position effective 1 August 2017. Interim chairman Lex Ebus announced this last Friday during the busy farewell reception of director Robert Roodenburg (64).

A good choice has been made with Mesken, the VGB board declares. Since 2012, he has held the position of Director of the Groenkeur Foundation, where he is responsible for further expansion and the positioning of quality standards, which focuses on the interests of the certificate holders and their customers. Prior to that, he was a secretary at Anthos (Royal Trade Union for Nurseries and Bulb Products), secretary of Tree nursery products and project leader market research at the Product Board for Horticulture.

Mesken is keenly looking forward to the new challenge at the VGB, he says. "For me it's a progressive step that is in line with what I do at Groenkeur Foundation and did earlier at Anthos. I want to commit myself 100% to shaping the new vision of the company together with the board".

After 14 years, Roodenburg left VGB. "With a new course of the VGB, comes a new captain," says Robert Roodenburg. "Great that the board has come to an agreement with Matthijs Mesken. Together with my wife I will move to The Hague with peace of mind. The VGB is in good hands".
