How clean is your purified water really?

More and more growers are working to organize collective purification of waste water. But how do you know if the water is purified properly?

Groen Agro Control does the monitoring of purification plants. For BZG-assessment is primarily about the breakdown of pesticides. Also other characteristics are available through analyzes: characteristics such as plant diseases, heavy metals and human pathogens. "So that the purified water actually is proven safe for reuse in crops," explains Ines van Marrewijk of Groen Agro Control.

The extensive screening in one go checks for more than 650 active substances of pesticides in crop- leaf or water samples (μg/L). Additionally it is, for example, about the concentration of nutrients and trace elements (mmol /L), the EC (mS /cm), and the pH value. Also, the Total Organic Carbon (TOC in mg C/L) can be measured, just as the UV-transmittance (%).

For collective plants, also a kind of subscription has been arranged for the monitoring of several parameters. Groen Agro Control thus can take monthly samples of the purification independently. After analysis, the results are assessed based on agreed standards.
