Van der Knaap Group serves a large number of market segments with a product assortment. In order to be able to serve customers as well as possible, market segmentation within the units of potting soil, rooting, coco and retail, is extremely important. Raymond van Ispelen is responsible for the sale of potting soil and rooting products in the Benelux and Germany. "By segmenting the market, we can focus better on the different crops. Our customers will be dealing with specialized account managers. As a result, we understand the market well and we are able to develop products that suit the wishes of the customer well."

Products are further developed in cooperation with customers. The Fiber-Neth Twin for example. Raymond: "This plug makes it possible to easily sort and individually divide Phalaenopsis during propagation. The plug is now being developed in addition to the further development and introduction of plug-in-plug systems for phalaenopsis. The interesting thing is that, through our way of customer approach, we strengthen the cooperation between the units and thus develop products that are in demand on the market. This way the hold on a segment can grow rapidly."

The launching of the Obturo plant plug is another example. Obturo offers flexibility to perfect the cultivation and automation process. Obturo is developed in such a way that the plug can always be re-wetted, resulting in a plant image as uniform as possible. Raymond: "With Obturo we offer a solution for singly dividing of plants to the seedling market and the strongly emerging tissue culture market. Obturo plugs are very well suited to this, as many customers have experienced already."

Raymond continues: "This is also exactly our mission. First of all, we want a visible and responsible result for the customer. In addition, our account managers themselves choose a segment where they feel involved and continue to develop themselves. Furthermore, Van der Knaap has a vacancy for an account manager who can become responsible for his own segment."
