Calla in the spotlight
The heart shaped and sometimes dotted leaves lead their way up to a finely chalice-shaped flower. These flowers come in various colours. They can be white, pink and yellow, but also red, purple, orange and even close to black. This plant is one of the few flowering plants that match well with a modern, sleek interior.
The flower resembles a chalice. Greek gods would have drunk from them. Its white variety has been long associated with virgin Mary and the chastity it embodies. On the contrary to this, the Calla was a symbol of eroticism, because of the sensual appearance. These ideals come together in Calla’s tradition of being a wedding flower.
