Australia: Water and energy efficiency field day for flower growers
The free field day will provide information about ways growers can monitor and improve their water and energy efficiency. The workshop (including farm walk) will be hosted on the rose farm of Derek Sholte of Tamor Roses in Gatton on Wednesday 28th June 2017.
The day will start with a lunch on arrival at midday and run until 4pm. Presentations will include a discussion of the principles of managing irrigation scheduling to reduce run-off and present Case Studies of farmers who have employed technology and techniques to reduce water use, improved pumping efficiency to reduce water use and/or reduce energy consumption.

Alternative energy technology suppliers will be on hand to showcase the latest developments in saving and generating energy in production enterprises. The event will also host presenters from energy efficiency financiers who will be discussing financing options for farmers including some new and novel cost and profit sharing packages that are being offered for energy generation schemes.
The day will finish with a farm walk of Tamor Roses who have implemented a number of energy efficiency and alternative energy generation initiatives into their rose production facility.
The event is a being hosted by the Flower Association in partnership with the Queensland Farmers Federation and Nursery & Garden Industry Queensland as part of the Rural Water Use Efficiency - Irrigation Futures project funded by the Queensland Government as well as Landcare Australia and the Energy Savers Plus Program.
