US: Emily Fuerst named R&D director for Kemin
In this role, Fuerst will be responsible for leading the development of new and innovative crop technology solutions that ensure protection from pests, enhance defense systems and improve nutrient utilization. Leveraging insights from the Kemin greenhouses and plant science program, she will work with integrated pest management (IPM) managers, plant health specialists, pest control advisers (PCAs) and business owners to understand their challenges and ensure Kemin Crop Technologies’ products meet their needs.
“Emily is a respected scientist in her field and brings strong leadership to this new role at Kemin,” said Riaan van Dyk, Vice President of Worldwide Marketing and Strategy. “Her commitment to Kemin is evident, and her expertise will further the success of Kemin Crop Technologies. We are thrilled to have her in this role.”
Since joining the Kemin Discovery Research team in 2010, she has built expertise in engineering microorganisms to produce molecules, enzyme development, encapsulation technologies and formulation chemistry. Fuerst played an influential role in the development of TetraCURB Concentrate, a rosemary oil-based treatment for two-spotted spider mites currently sold by Kemin Crop Technologies.

Fuerst holds a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Nevada, Reno, master’s degree in Entomology from Iowa State University, and is pursuing an Executive Masters of Business degree from the University of Iowa. She will be based in Des Moines, Iowa.
