More effective steaming via sandwich steaming with spiked steaming hoods

Sandwich steaming is the newest development in hood steaming technology, combining deep and surface steaming. The ground is exposed to steam simultaneously on the surface and through 17cm long spikes in the ground.

The steaming depth is 25 cm, reached in a steaming time of just 7 min.

The amount of steam can be doubled in this process compared with sheet steaming, and increased by up to 120 kg per m²/h. The heating oil needed for this amounts to just 0.85 l/m² (with conventional sheet steaming this amounts to 1.30 l/m²). The energy saved amounts to up to 35%.

Beyond this, the use of a spiked hood is a little more demanding, as it has to be ensured that the hollow poles remain clean upon being pushed into the ground.
In order to keep the exit holes clean, it is necessary to ensure that the ground is sufficiently dry when using this steaming process.

The company MSD has already sold spiked hoods in horticultural businesses in Germany as well as worldwide.

MSD produces steam boilers from 100 to 2000 kg/h steam output. MSD offers also a wide range of various steaming systems for different applications.
