US (IL): Sunshine delphinium named in honor of John Simko

Floral professionals gathered during the 8th Annual Flower Naming Ceremony to recognize one individual’s lifelong contribution to the global floriculture industry.

Kevin Barry of Big Y Foods presented the honor to John Simko, President and CEO of Sunshine Bouquet Company and 40 year industry veteran.

Barry described Simko as “a passionate visionary, whose innovation in floral design and logistics have established his company as one of the leading organizations in this ever-changing retail environment.”

The flower, bred by Ball and Miyoshi, was a stunning dark blue delphinium appropriately named “Sunshine.”
