Green roof for Google British headquarters

The new British headquarters of Google next to King's Cross station in London will get a 8,500m² roof landscape park.

Building green
The 7,000 London employees of search engine company Google have something to look forward to: a new green workplace in the middle of the city. The construction of the 11-storey building with more than 1 million square meters of floor space, will start in 2018. The design is from the English Heatherwick Studio and the Danish Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). The building will be constructed with durable materials and is Google's first construction project outside the United States.

1 billion dollars
According to insiders, the entire complex will cost as much as USD 1 billion, but with that the search engine giant realizes a very special building. Inside are all the amenities one would expect, such as cafes and meeting rooms as well as a 25 meter swimming pool. There are also massage rooms, various sports facilities and an auditorium. A modern giant green roof, which will feature a 300 meter garden full of wildflowers and forest plants. The computer nerds can also go for a run as the park contains a 200 meter long running track.
