Chrysanthemum companies visit Polish market

At the start of July, Dekker Chrysanten, Van Helvoort Chrysanten and Mans Flowers visited markets in three cities in Poland together. Dekker brought the new variety Kennedy, VHC a large package of Santini varieties and Mans Flowers brought their Germini assortment. The growers aim for a close collaboration with Dutch exporters, to sell their products on the Polish market with their support. This is why they wanted to experience this market themselves.

What is striking is that the Polish flower trade is very concentrated on flower markets and Cash&Carry's that facilitate the logistics further in the country. It is particularly bunch chrysanthemums that are traded on the market. Santini, however, has taken a strong position in the wholesale. Of course, the fact that Evert van Helvoort of VHC was visiting the Polish market for the seventh time played a role in this. Santini is growing in numbers among the Polish buyers every year, but most focus is still on the single bunch chrysanthemum. Kennedy, the new bunch chrysanthemum by Dekker Chrystanten, fits perfectly on the market due to a number of strong USP's, such as: a long lasting green heart, good paintability, a fresh look and strong leaves. They managed to raise demand for this newcomer during their visit. Due to the calm period traders took time for conversations.

There were also a lot of local plants and flowers, such as orchids, anthuriums, chrysanthemums, gerbars and a lot of roses. This is partially seasonal production, but there are also real serious local producers on the market. Interesting was also the warm visit to Kees van Rijn at the head office of Bart Kwiaty, the subsidiary of Van Duijvenvoorde Bloemen & Planten. Kees has been living in Poland for over 20 years and knows the Polish language and culture well. This is always the best basis for doing business. The next peak for the Polish trade is All Saints. This is when a lot of flowers, particularly chrysanthemums and plants are sold. Kees and his fellow buyers have directly experienced the assortment of their guests and took a nice photo together.
