As of September 1, 2017, current Chrysal CEO Joep Wiegel (63) is stepping back. Joep has been active for over 20 years at Chrysal, at first as Financial Director and as of 2007 - the year in which Chrysal merged with Swedish Vitabric - as CEO. Joep was the driving force behind the further expansion of Chrysal's post-harvest business and the expansion to Colombia, Ecuador, Kenya and Japan. Joep will remain involved with Chrysal until the end of the year in connection with handing over his duties.

With Joep stepping down on September 1, Peter Vriends (53) will be named as CEO of Chrysal International. Peter is the Vice President & Global General Manager Post Harvest Agrofresh Solutions, and has made an important contribution to the exponential growth of Agrofresh.
Joep Wiegel: "In the last 20 years our company has made a fascinating development. Besides the development, production and commercialisation of care products for cut flowers under the brand Chrysal, an important part of the attention went to Pokon products. In 2006 Chrysal was still 100% a family company. After the family partially stepped back in 2007 and a foreign investor became a majority shareholder, space was made to sell the Pokon division and focus completely on the Chrysal business. In 2014, Dutch investor Nordian took over 100% of the shares together with the management and the company went through strong growth. I worked as Chrysal's CEO for 10 years; this is a good time for me to pass the torch on to Peter Vriends. I met Peter over 10 years ago and I have gotten to know him as a driven businessman who can play an important part in the further growth of Chrysal with his passion for the Post Harvest sector."
