August 25, Portland

US (OR): Peters Co shows how to go Lean

Want a simple way to get your team started with Lean? The Peters Company is offering a fast-paced, dynamic workshop at the Farwest Show that answers the question most people have about Lean: "What tangible steps can I take TODAY to improve my business?"
  • Engaging Employees in the Power of 5S
  • Friday, August 25 from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m.
  • Oregon Convention Center, B115-116
“5S” is a critical Lean concept focused on reducing waste. It has been used effectively in nurseries to make rapid, positive change. Applying 5S builds orderliness and achieves more consistent performance results. When deployed correctly, it draws team members into daily, continuous improvement of the business.

The workshop will introduce you to 5S methods and help you learn basic implementation steps, including evaluation and audit. Requires Seminars or All Education pass.

Also on the schedule:
  • Q&A with the Oregon Nursery Lean Consortium
  • Friday, August 25 from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
  • Farwest Show Grower Solution Center
  • Sponsored by Nursery Management Magazine
A lean consortium is a small group of experienced practitioners from different companies that come together to perfect their skills and improve their businesses together over the course of one year. Oregon’s consortium has consistently delivered outstanding productivity and quality improvements each month. Hear directly from consortium members about ways they applied lean principles to engage their teams and improve their business and profits.
