Mobile purification is one of the four options to meet the purification demand as of 1-1-2018. Depending on the amount of discharge water, future strategy and investment space, mobile purification could be an interesting option. The amount of discharge water varies depending on the cultivation, water strategy and quality, and is between 122 and 3,340 m3/ha/year among the companies researched. Around 65% of the companies discharges less than 600m3/ha/year.
The emphasis on discharge is in the summer, as the filters are often rinsed then and the quality of the discharge water causes most incidental discharges. Based on the companies researched, the sector can be divided into four groups as far a discharge intensity is concerned, which all cover a quarter of the area: 4, 7.5, 12.5 and 40m3/ha/week. For companies with little discharge water per week and a small surface (and little space for investment) mobile purification is an interesting solution. If the discharge volume is halved for all companies, it will become an interesting option for many more companies to choose mobile water purification. The total potential amount of water to be purified will reduce due to this, but the potential number of companies will increase. The mobile installation has to be approved by the Beoordelingscommissie Zuiveringsinstallaties Glastuinbouw for 95% purification and the purified amount must be registered for enforcement purposes.
