NL: Ter Laak's Daylight Greenhouse well on its way

Last February, the first pile was driven for the 50,000 m² new phalaenopsis nursery of Ter Laak Orchids in the Netherlands. Now, the construction of the greenhouse is in full swing.

In 2014 Ter Laak became the first Dutch nursery to open a so-called Daylight Greenhouse of 4,000 m². This greenhouse, built by Technokas, is fully equipped with double glazing. The daylight system consists of lenses in the greenhouse roof that bundle sunlight onto a solar collector, which hangs continuously in the focal point of the lenses and moves in line with the sun. Through this collector water flows that is heated and stored. This hot water is used later to heat the greenhouse. This system also functions as a screen installation in the greenhouse. The result is a greenhouse that uses little energy and that creates an optimal climate for the plants. Due to the good results of the previously built Daylight Greenhouse, Ter Laak has now chosen for this type of greenhouse again.

This time it is about an expansion of no less than 50,000 m². Construction was started in February. The greenhouse will consist of 100% cultivation space because the processing area is built under the second cultivation layer. This way the available space is used optimally.

To make this project also as sustainable as possible, the greenhouse will be provided with the most innovative installations and automation. Stolze is responsible for the electrical and water technical installation (irrigation and complete disinfection), the assimilation and LED lighting installation (Hortilux fixtures) and for the electro technical part of the previously mentioned daylight installation. These installations are controlled by a Priva Climate Computer.

Currently work is being carried out on the installations of the air, screen and daylight motors and the power supply for the air treatment units, cooling and lighting. Below are some photos of the progress.
