Novelties at Plantarium 2017

New plants are introduced at Plantarium (August 23-26), having been bred by companies both in the Netherlands and abroad, and are judged by the Royal Boskoop Horticultural Society. Below you'll find the second selection of novelties that are going to be judged at the event.


Agastache 'TNAGAPDB' (Poquito Dark Blue)
Agastache 'TNAGAPDB' (Poquito Dark Blue) blooms throughout the summer with large, dark blue flowers in dense spadices and has dark green foliage. The plant has an upright growth and reaches approx. 30 cm in height. It is very suitable for growing in 2-3 litre containers. The plant matures in approximately 10 weeks. Terranova Nurseries Inc from Canby (USA) bred the plant. Vitroflora from Dobrcz (Poland) markets the plant and submitted it for the novelty showcase. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.

Alternanthera brasiliana 'Little Maroon'
Alternanthera brasiliana 'Little Maroon' is a ground covering shrub that retains its beautiful, purple coloured foliage all year round. It loves the sun, fares very well in spring and summer and becomes even more purple the more sun it gets. It also produces white flowers in summer. Although the plant originally comes from warm regions, it can survive a few degrees of frost, but it is better to protect it from frost during winter. It is also suitable for in pots. OZbreed from Richmond (Australia) bred the plant. Roel de Jong nurseries from Boskoop submitted the plant and also markets it.


Anemone hupehensis 'Tiki Sensation'
Anemone hupehensis 'Tiki Sensation' blooms from the beginning of August until the first frost. The double salmon pink flowers turn pure white. When the temperature drops the flowers turn back to pink. The plant grows to approx. 60-80 cm tall and 30-40 cm wide. Gebr. Th. & W. Alkemade BV from Lisse submitted the plant and also markets it. ‘Tiki Sensation’ was bred by Staudegaarden from Ringe (Denmark). Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.


Buddleja 'Little Nugget' (POQUITOTM)
Buddleja POQUITOTM is a beautiful, new Buddleja hybrid with green-gold foliage and deep magenta-purple flowers. It flowers throughout the summer. The plant is compact and ideal for small gardens, terraces and patios. Hans A. Hansen from Zeeland, Michigan (USA) is the breeder. Cultivaris GmbH from Heidesheim/Rheinhessen (Germany) markets the plant and submitted it for the novelty showcase. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.

Buddleja 'Miss Pearl'
Buddleja 'Miss Pearl' is a compact Buddleja with abundant branches and pure white flowers. Unlike B. davidii varieties, the flowers reach a maximum height of 125 -150 cm. 'Miss Pearl' is an addition to the Miss series, 'Miss Ruby' and 'Miss Violet'. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for. Valkplant BV from Boskoop submitted the plant for the novelty showcase.

Calycanthus raulstonii 'Aphrodite' 
Calycanthus raulstonii 'Aphrodite' is a very hardy plant with beautiful, shiny foliage and large magenta-red, magnolia-like flowers. 'Aphrodite' blooms throughout the summer with sweet-smelling flowers and grows to a height of approximately 200 cm. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for. Valkplant from Boskoop submitted the plant for the novelty showcase.

Clematis 'Zo08159' (Myosotis)
Clematis 'Zo08159' (Myosotis) (Patens Group) is a potted plant that blooms abundantly. It flowers mainly in May and June, with a second flowering in summer. It is a hardy climber with stems of up to 2 m tall, but much shorter if cultivated in pots. The leaves are trifoliate and dark green. The flowers are 8-12 cm in diameter, upright and wide open. The spring flowers have 8 petals and the summer flowers have 6. When the flowers open, the petals are strikingly curled. It is blue-violet coloured and the dark red stamens contrast beautifully. Prune it lightly after the spring flowering. Zone 6. J. van Zoest B.V from Boskoop is the breeder of Clematis Myosotis, markets it and also submitted it for the novelty showcase. Clematis 'Zo09113' (Pernille)
Clematis 'Zo09113' (Pernille) (Viticella Group) blooms with beautiful purple shades with white in each flower. It blooms from June until September on new shoots. It is a hardy climber with stems of up to 2-3 m tall. The foliage is pinnate and has a regular green colour. The flower is somewhat upright or slightly bent, is 6-9 cm in diameter, wide open and white with a purple edge and veins. Prune the plant down to 25 cm above the ground in March. Zone 6. J. van Zoest B.V from Boskoop is the breeder of Clematis Pernille, markets it and also submitted it for the novelty showcase. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.

Clematis 'Zo12220' (Isabella)
Clematis 'Zo12220' (Isabella) (Patens Group) is a potted plant that blooms abundantly. It flowers mainly in May and June, with a second flowering in summer. Clematis Isabella is a hardy climber with stems of up to 2 m tall, but much shorter if cultivated in pots. The leaves are trifoliate and a regular green colour. The flowers are 8-12 cm in diameter, upright and wide open. The spring flowers have 6-8 petals and the summer flowers have 6. It is pink with various shades in each flower and the dark red stamens contrast beautifully. Prune it lightly after the spring flowering. Zone 6. J. van Zoest B.V from Boskoop is the breeder of Clematis Isabella, markets it and also submitted it for the novelty showcase. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.

Cornus kousa 'Rutpink' (Scarlet Fire)
Cornus kousa 'Rutpink' (Scarlet Fire) has dark pink to red flowers. The flower barely loses colour in direct sunlight. The shiny dark green to bronze coloured leaves are very striking. Scarlet Fire is a breakthrough in Cornus kousa. It is the first red flowering Cornus selection from Dr. Thomas Molnar from Rutgers University, New Brunswick (USA). Scarlet Fire prefers sunny to semi-shady spots. It blooms from early June and the flowers measure 8-10 cm. It flowers for a very long period, up to 4 weeks. The plant can grow to 3 - 4 meters tall. Scarlet Fire is a hardy plant and is not sensitive to diseases. A. Steffen Baumschulen GmbH from Rellingen (Germany) markets the plant. Joh. Stolwijk & zn. from Boskoop is responsible for Dutch sales and submitted the plant for the novelty showcase. Scarlet Fire is protected under plant breeding legislation.


Cortaderia selloana 'GREGOB' (Green Goblin)
Cortaderia selloana 'GREGOB' (Green Goblin) is a beautiful, compact pampas grass selection with sturdy green foliage and very short, thick panicles. It flowers abundantly with multiple panicles in the first season. It is ideal for smaller gardens or in a container. The plant was bred by Michael Merz from Offenbach am Main (Germany). Cultivaris GmbH from Heidesheim/Rheinhessen (Germany) markets the plant and submitted it for the novelty showcase. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for. 

Cotinus coggygria 'MINCOJAU3' (Golden Lady)
Cotinus coggygria 'MINCOJAU3' (Golden Lady) is a real improvement to the present supply of golden-yellow varieties. In spring, the plant has bright orange new shoots that gradually turn golden-yellow. The foliage turns yellow-green in summer and can withstand sunshine. It is orange in autumn. The plant is compact and has abundant branches, and is easy to grow in a container. SAPHO from Le Menitre (France) markets the plant and submitted it for the showcase. Pepinieres Minier from Beaufort and Vallee (France) bred the plant. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.


Dahlia 'E255' (Heroïne)
Dahlia 'E255' (Heroïne) is a dwarf Dahlia that stands out due to its large (12 cm in diameter), single flowers. The petals are bright pink and red towards the centre, contrasting beautifully with the sunny yellow centre of stamens. The stems are brownish black. Heroïne is an early bloomer and flowers throughout the summer. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for. This Dahlia was bred by Ernest Turc from Angers (France) and is marketed by SAPHO from La Ménitré (France) who also submitted it.
 
Echinacea 'Balsomador' (Sombrero Adobe Orange)
Echinacea Adobe Orange is a striking appearance in the entirely new Sombrero series with its bright orange colour. This Sombrero series from tissue culture, is a compact and abundantly branched Echinacea purpurea. The strong plants look beautiful in 2-3 litre pots and have been produced as first year-flowering plants. The plant was bred by Darwin Perennials from West Chicago, Illinois (USA). Florensis from Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht markets the plant and also submitted it for the novelty showcase. Protected under plant breeding legislation.

Echinacea purpurea x Rudbeckia hirta 'ET RDB 410' (Summerina Butterscotch Biscuit) and Echinacea purpurea x Rudbeckia hirta 'ET RDB 402' (Summerina Pumpernickel) CNB New Plants from Lisse submitted two Echinacea hybrids from the Summerina series for the novelty showcase. The hybrids are the result of cross-breeding between Rudbeckia and Echinacea, produce a bushy growth and bloom abundantly. The flowers last longer, they bloom from early summer until late autumn and the flowers are exceptionally big. Eternal Plant Boijl BV from Boijl is the breeder. CNB New Plants markets the plants. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.
Summerina Butterscotch Biscuit has large, yellow-brown flowers.
Summerina Pumpernickel has dark flowers and is a real eye-catcher in the garden or on the patio. It is also suitable for large pots (3L-5L).


Gaura lindheimeri 'Lillipop Supreme'
Gaura lindheimeri 'Lillipop Supreme' is a beautiful new Gaura selection with dark red foliage and produces a very compact and bushy growth. The plant is covered with large, deep pink flowers on short, sturdy stems. Cultivaris GmbH from Heidesheim/Rheinhessen (Germany) markets the plant and submitted it for the novelty showcase. Edward Bunker from Redland Bay, Queensland (Australia) bred the plant.


Geranium 'Boo' (BloomTime)
Geranium 'Boo' (BloomTime) is a new Geranium hybrid with a spreading-mounding habit and has brilliant mauve-pink flowers from May until October. Each flower has a striking white eye zone. It is wonderful as a ground cover, in mixed containers or baskets. The plant was bred by Michael Merz from Offenbach am Main (Germany). Cultivaris GmbH from Heidesheim/Rheinhessen (Germany) markets the plant and submitted it for the novelty showcase. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.

Gerbera 'Garswlove' (Garvinea Sweet Love)
Garvinea is the first real garden gerbera. Garvinea Sweet Love® has an intense red colour and blooms from early spring until the first frost. The plant attracts butterflies and bees, and is resistant to diseases and pests. Because the plant is so robust, it is suited to all weather conditions. The plant can stay outside in winter but if temperatures drop to below zero, it needs to be covered with straw to return even bigger and more beautiful in spring. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for. The breeder is Florist Holland B.V. from De Kwakel, that also markets the plant and submitted it for the novelty showcase.

Heuchera 'Black Pearl'
Heuchera 'Black Pearl' is a bushy plant with shiny, pitch black foliage and is a fast grower. The foliage is shiny black, even in full sun, and does not lose its intense, pitch black colour. Heuchera 'Black Pearl' grows in small pots and containers but is also a strong garden plant that provides years of pleasure. 'Black Pearl' produces light white-pink flowers in summer. Heuchera ''Black Pearl' is extremely hardy, evergreen and easy to maintain. The plant was bred by Walters Gardens Inc. from Zeeland (USA). Gootjes AllPlant BV from Heerhugowaard submitted the plant and markets it together with FN Kempen BV from Mijndrecht. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.

Hibiscus 'B1pink' (Eternal Flower Pink)
Hibiscus 'B1pink' (Eternal Flower Pink) has the best characteristics of both parents (H. syriacus and H. moscheutos): the large leaves and leaf shape of H. moscheutos and the very large flowers and winter hardiness of H. syriacus. Eternal Flower Pink blooms from July until September with extremely large, pink flowers with a purple-pink heart. This Hibiscus grows to a height of 4 m and a width of 2 m, and is very suitable for the garden, in the border, as a single specimen or for row plantation. Plant Eternal Flower Pink in full sun in well-drained soil rich in humus. Van Aart Boomkwekerijen from Oudenbosch markets the plant and also submitted it and is the breeder. Hibiscus 'WALHIROSMO' (Hibiskiss Rose Moon)
Hibiscus 'WALHIROSMO' (Hibiskiss Rose Moon) is a new Hibiscus cultivar with extremely large flowers and a robust, upright growth. The foliage is dark green. The large, pink sterile flowers are almost flat, have a contrasting red centre and are 17 cm to 19 cm in diameter. Hibiskiss Rose Moon can survive frost (down to -10°C). Walberton Nursery LLP from West Sussex (UK) bred the plant. De Jong Plant B.V. from Boskoop and Heinje Baumschulen from Jeddeloh (Germany) market Hibiskiss Rose Moon and also submitted it for the novelty showcase. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.


Hydrangea arborescens 'NCHA2' (Pink Annabelle)
Hydrangea arborescens 'NCHA2' is an improved version of the Pink Annabelle. This renewed Pink Annabelle combines the strong branches of the well-known Strong Annabelle with the large, dark pink flowers of the existing Pink Annabelle. The improved Pink Annabelle blooms throughout the summer. Valkplant BV from Boskoop submitted the plant and is the agent. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.


Hydrangea arborescens 'SMNHALR' (Lime Rickey)
Hydrangea arborescens 'SMNHALR' (Lime Rickey) has beautiful lime-green flowers and strong branches. Its contrasting dark green foliage and blooming from bottom to top makes Lime Rickey a beautiful garden shrub. Valkplant from Boskoop submitted the plant for the novelty showcase. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.


Hydrangea macrophylla 'COUMONT' (So Long Rosy)
Hydrangea macrophylla 'COUMONT' (So Long Rosy) is a new cultivar in the So Long series of new, repeat flowering hydrangeas for cold climates. So Long Rosy is a hybrid of serrata and macrophylla which combines the qualities of both. It flowers in a hemispherical shape, light pink and later turns to green. It blooms abundantly on new wood, thus guaranteeing fast production. It has large leaves and grows in a compact way with abundant branches. The plant is very hardy. SAPHO from Le Menitre (France) markets the plant and submitted it for the showcase. Jacques Couturieux is the breeder of the plant. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.

Hydrangea macrophylla 'HBA215909' (Ice Girl)
Hydrangea macrophylla 'HBA215909' (Ice Girl) blooms abundantly with large, strong, round white bulbous flowers and beautifully contrasting foliage. It is a compact plant with abundant branches that is suitable as a houseplant but certainly also in the garden, on the terrace and patio. Ice Girl is very durable. The plant is marketed by André van Zoest from Reeuwijk. Hydrangea Breeders Association is the breeder and submitted the plant for the novelty showcase. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.

Hydrangea macrophylla 'HBA215910' (Green Lips)
Hydrangea macrophylla 'HBA215910' (Green Lips) is a striking, bicoloured, mophead hydrangea. This hydrangea with strong flowers and a good plant structure is suitable as a houseplant but also in the garden, on the terrace and patio. Green Lips is very durable, changes colour beautifully and is an eye-catcher in the garden right through to autumn. Green Lips can easily be blued and then creates trendy lilac and purple green flowers. Green Lips is marketed by De Jong Plant from Boskoop that also submitted the plant for the novelty showcase. Hydrangea Breeders Association B.V. from De Kwakel bred the plant. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.

Hydrangea macrophylla 'Jong 01' (Lady Mata Hari)
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Jong 01' (Lady Mata Hari) distinguishes itself by its sturdy flowers that appear in various colours when blooming. The plant also blooms for a long period and the thick branches are also suitable for cutting. The colour of the flowers varies from creamy white, to green, to purple. De Jong Plant B.V. from Boskoop bred the plant, markets it and also submitted it for the novelty showcase. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.

Hydrangea paniculata 'SMHPFL' (Fire Light)
Hydrangea paniculata 'SMHPFL' (Fire Light) is a Hydrangea paniculata that blooms abundantly and that has very strong branches and large flowers. These beautiful, large flowers turn from white to pink, to red during the summer. During the flowering, these different colours contrast spectacularly with one another. Fire Light is extremely hardy and reaches a height of approximately 175 cm and a width of 125 cm. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for. Hydrangea paniculata 'SMHPLQF' (Little Quick Fire)
Hydrangea paniculata 'SMHPLQF' (Little Quick Fire) is the well-known Early Sensation's little sister. It is a low-growing paniculata that is 100 cm wide and 125 cm tall and blooms abundantly in early summer. The flowers turn from white to pink during the summer. It is a beautiful, small shrub that the consumer van enjoy throughout the summer and in autumn. Valkplant from Boskoop submitted the plant for the novelty showcase. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.


Lagerstroemia indica '18LI' (BLACK SOLITAIRE)
Lagerstroemia indica '18LI' (BLACK SOLITAIRE) was submitted and is marketed by DHMI from Malause (France). The plant is bred by Jim Berry Nursery from Grand Salines TX (USA). Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for. BLACK SOLITAIRE is a new variety with purely black foliage and dark purple flowers that contrast beautifully with one another.

Lagerstroemia indica 'DABLAGE01' (Mimie Fuchsia)
Lagerstroemia indica 'DABLAGE01' (Mimie Fuchsia) blooms abundantly with pinky red flowers from mid June to mid October (depending on the climate). The plant is very suitable as a ground cover or as a weeping form if it is cultivated on a stem. Mimie Fuchsia is a healthy plant that is not sensitive to mildew. SAPHO from Le Menitre (France) markets the plant and submitted it for the showcase. Alain Dabadie from France is the breeder. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.

Lavandula angustifolia 'Balavurlu' (SuperBlue)
Lavandula angustifolia 'Balavurlu' (SuperBlue) is the most recent and quickest first-year flowering Lavandula angustifolia from cuttings that is on the market. It is even 10 days earlier than the Lavandula angustifolia Essence Purple from Florensis. The plants, with their large, dark blue flowers, bloom continually up until the first frost and are very suitable for larger pots and containers. De plant was bred by Darwin Perennials from West Chicago, Illinois (USA). Florensis from Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht markets the plant and also submitted it for the novelty showcase. Protected under plant breeding legislation.


Lycium barbarum 'FPW03' (Princess Tao)
Lycium barbarum 'FPW03' (Princess Tao) is a goji berry that starts to bloom at the end of May and continues throughout the whole summer with light violet flowers. The bright red berries start ripening in July and are larger than the usual varieties available. The berries are sweet and can be eaten fresh or dried. The plant produces the berries into autumn, does not need much water and is mildew-resistant. The breeder is FPW Developpement from France. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for. SAPHO from Le Menitre (France) markets the plant and submitted it for the showcase.

Molinia caerulea 'Torch'
Molinia caerulea 'Torch', true to its name, produces flowers that look like torches. The flowering season is August-September. The foliage is green and the plant grows to approx. 110 cm tall. The stems remain nice and upright during winter. ‘Torch’ was bred by Johannes Nicolaas Mesker from Nieuw Annerveen. CNB New Plants from Lisse markets the plant and also submitted it for the novelty showcase. 'Torch' is protected under plant breeding legislation.

Miscanthus sinensis 'Ibiza'

Miscanthus sinensis 'Ibiza' produces an upright growth, is suitable for smaller gardens and has a beautiful yellow and purple autumn colour. The plant grows to approx. 80 cm tall and blooms from August until October with dark red panicles. ‘Ibiza’ was bred by Johannes Nicolaas Mesker from Nieuw Annerveen. CNB New Plants from Lisse markets the plant and also submitted it for the novelty showcase. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.

Nemesia denticulata 'Isetta' (mix)
Nemesia denticulata 'Isetta' is a perennial that is grown as an annual or a biennial plant. 'Isetta' is propagated from seeds. The plant has abundant branches and produces a compact sphere-shaped growth of dark green foliage with large flowers on top. 'Isetta' is available in three different colours that flower simultaneously and is therefore suitable for a mixed pot. Van Hemert & Co Seeds from Hazerswoude bred ‘Isetta’ and also markets it. Van Hemert & Co BV submitted the plant for the novelty showcase.

Panicum virgatum 'Sangria'
Panicum virgatum 'Sangria' is an extremely compact Panicum. The leaves appear green but quickly turn red, which makes it look very playful. In August, purplish-brown flowers appear on the plant. ‘Sangria’ was bred by Johannes Nicolaas Mesker from Nieuw Annerveen. CNB New Plants from Lisse markets the plant and also submitted it for the novelty showcase. 'Sangria' is protected under plant breeding legislation.

Penstemon barbatus 'Twizzle' (mix)
Penstemon barbatus 'Twizzle' is a first-year flowering perennial that is propagated from seeds. 'Twizzle' is available in three colours that can also be grown as a mixed pot. 'Twizzle' produces high, elegant flower stems with tubular flowers in striking colours. Of the three colours, 'Twizzle Scarlet' was awarded a Fleuroselect Gold Medal and 'Twizzle Purple' an AAS Regional Award. For this reason, they were first tested in various locations and in different climates in Europe and North America. Van Hemert & Co Seeds from Hazerswoude bred ‘Twizzle’ and also markets it. Van Hemert & Co BV submitted the plant for the novelty showcase.


Physocarpus opulifolius 'MINALL2' (All Black)
Physocarpus opulifolius 'MINALL2' (All Black) stands out because of its colour. In spring, the new wood is bright reddish purple. The leaves are even darker and turn almost black. It is round and bushy and has abundant branches. The small, round blossoms appear from May to June, followed by red fruits in summer. Because it is compact, the shrub is ideal for small pots and gardens with a restricted amount of space. SAPHO from Le Menitre (France) markets the plant and submitted it for the showcase. Pepinieres Minier from Beaufort and Vallee (France) bred the plant. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.


Physocarpus opulifolius 'Rubella'
Physocarpus opulifolius 'Rubella' is a low growing, compact Physocarpus with beautiful, shiny dark red foliage. The plant blooms abundantly with light pink flowers from May to June. 'Rubella' is easy to maintain and suitable for smaller gardens, and reaches a maximum height of 100-125 cm after a few years. Valkplant BV from Boskoop submitted the plant for the showcase. Physocarpus opulifolius 'SMNPOTWG' (Tiny Wine Gold)
Physocarpus opulifolius 'SMNPOTWG' (Tiny Wine Gold) is a Physocarpus that produces a very compact growth and the new leaves are golden-yellow. Just like Tiny Wine, Tiny Wine Gold has delicate, small leaves. It blooms abundantly with white flowers in spring and has golden-yellow new leaves. The plant only reaches 120-150 cm in height. Valkplant from Boskoop submitted the plant for the novelty showcase. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.

Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Silver Ball' and Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Golden Ball'
Huisman Boomkwekerij BV from Boskoop submitted two dwarf Pittosporum for the novelty showcase. These Pittosporum produce a round growth but can also be pruned to a different shape. The plants are suitable for pots on the terrace but also in the garden as a shaped plant or hedge. The breeder is Mark Nelson from Hastings (New Zealand) and protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for. Huisman Boomkwekerij BV from Boskoop markets the plants.
Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Silver Ball' has silver-green foliage.
Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Golden Ball' has golden-yellow foliage.


Rheum 'Lubali' (Lowberry Lillibarber)
Rheum 'Lubali' (Lowberry Lillibarber) is a mini rhubarb plant that reaches a height of 30 cm and is ideal for the balcony or patio. Rhododendron 'RLH1-3P3' (BloomChampion White) and Rhododendron 'RLH1-2P8' (BloomChampion Pink) Kwekerij Lendert de Vos BV from Reeuwijk submitted two Azaleas from the BloomChampion series for the novelty showcase. These Azaleas can survive frost and bloom for a very long period. Extremely cold springs or very hot summers do not pose a problem for its beautiful flowers. The large flowers open up in April and continue to bloom until the first frost in the early winter season. It is ideal as a patio plant or in a pot on the balcony. The plants are marketed by Star Roses and Plants from Hillegom that also bred it. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.

Rubus 'Hakomade' (Magical Delicio) is a very compact dwarf bramble that blooms and bears fruit on new wood, so it can be cut back completely. The plant produces delicious large berries during a long period and is suitable for in the garden or in a large pot on the patio. Magical Delicio was submitted by Kolster BV from Boskoop that markets the plant together with Van Son & Koot from Kaatsheuvel. Hargreaves Plants from Kings Lynn (England) is the breeder. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.

Rubus idaeus 'Luhimi' (Lowberry Baby Dwarf)
Rubus idaeus 'Luhimi' (Lowberry Baby Dwarf) is the first everbearing and the smallest raspberry ever. The plant grows to a maximum of 50 cm tall and produces fruits on both new and old wood. The fruits are small to medium-sized, which matches the size of the plant, and are sweet and delicious. It is ideal for in pots and on patios. Lowberry Baby Dwarf was bred and is marketed by Lubera AG from Buchs (Switzerland). Lubera GmbH from Bad Zwischenahn (Germany) submitted the plant for the novelty showcase.

Rubus idaeus 'Luhima' (Lowberry Little Sweet Sister)
Lowberry Little Sweet Sister is a very early, compact, red autumn raspberry that produces fruits on new wood. It produces compact growth and reaches a maximum height of 80-90 cm making the plant ideal for small gardens, in pots or on the terrace and patio. It bears fruits on the tips of the side branches. The branches are almost without thorns. The fruits are sweet and small to medium-sized, and appear on the plant from July until the first frost. Lowberry Little Sweet Sister was bred and is marketed by Lubera AG from Buchs (Switzerland). Lubera GmbH from Bad Zwischenahn (Germany) submitted the plant for the novelty showcase.


Rudbeckia hirta 'Bullrudi 05' (Sunbeckia Emelia)
Rudbeckia hirta 'Bullrudi 05' (Sunbeckia Emelia) has exceptionally large flowers. The golden-yellow petals with a brown base contrast beautifully with the dark centre. The plant grows to a height of approx. 50 cm and flowers throughout the summer until the first frost. It is suitable for growing in 4-5 litre containers and the growing time is approximately 9-10 weeks. Sunbeckia Emelia was bred by Hartwig Bull from Gönnebek (Germany). Vitroflora from Dobrcz (Poland) markets the plant and submitted it for the novelty showcase. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.

Rudbeckia hirta 'Kissing SmileyZ' blooms abundantly throughout the summer until the first frost with lively golden-orange coloured flowers with a dark brown centre. It produces a compact and upright growth up to 45cm and stays compact whole season. Perfect for 2-4l containers.. The growing time is approximately 10 weeks. AB Cultivars from Zuidwolde bred the plant. Vitroflora from Dobrcz (Poland) markets the plant and submitted it for the novelty showcase.


Sorbaria sorbifolia 'COUSORB05' (Pink Hopi )
Sorbaria sorbifolia 'COUSORB05' (Pink Hopi ) has new, variegated shoots that are red, pink and cream coloured. This colourful phase lasts from the beginning of March until the end of May and is longer than that of the traditional varieties. Later, the foliage is green. Pink Hopi is compact, does not need any maintenance and has few root suckers. The dense foliage makes it a good ground cover. SAPHO from Le Menitre (France) markets the plant and submitted it for the showcase. Jacques Couturieux is de breeder of the plant. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.


Spiraea japonica 'DAVROU01' (Merlo Green)
Spiraea japonica 'DAVROU01' (Merlo Green) has lovely purple-red new shoots which contrast beautifully with the green foliage. The subtly serrated leaves briefly remain purple before turning dark green. Merlo Green is not sensitive to mildew. In June, the plant is covered in carmine-pink flowers with corymbs of up to 8 cm. Deadheading encourages flowering. The plant has a regular, round growth and remains compact. Suitable for growing in a container or in the garden. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for and the breeder is Jean Paul Davasse from France. SAPHO from Le Menitre (France) markets the plant and submitted it for the showcase.

Vaccinium corymbosum 'ANDVAL1601' (Yelloberry Blue)
Vaccinium corymbosum 'ANDVAL1601' (Yelloberry Blue) is an innovation in the Vaccinium range because of its beautiful orange-bronze coloured new foliage in spring, which then turns yellow. This yellow foliage contrasts beautifully with the blueberries. Besides the delicious, sweet blueberries, it is a beautiful yellow shrub that is an eye-catcher in summer gardens, which are often green. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for. Valkplant BV from Boskoop submitted the plant for the novelty showcase.

Weigela 'Slingpink' (All Summer Peach)
Weigela 'Slingpink' (All Summer Peach) is a low-growing, compact Weigela with flowers that are of the same colour as a delicious sweet peach. Light salmon-pink with a dash of yellow. All Summer Peach blooms, as the name indicates, throughout summer and is a new colour in addition to the existing Weigela All Summer Red. Valkplant from Boskoop submitted the plant for the novelty showcase. Bert Verhoef Boomkwekerij from Hazerswoude bred the plant and grows it. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.
