The main market for Everbloom is Russia, followed by Ukraine and the surrounding countries. "As Russia is our main market, we have had some tough years when the crisis hit the country. 2015 and 2016 were the worst years, with price dropping by around 30 percent", says Santa Cruz.
The farm.
Fortunately, the Russian market seemed to recover in 2017 and the demand for long stem roses increased again. "We are located at an altitude of 3,100 meters above sea level. So, we are specialized in the production of long stem, 60-100cm roses. And finally, we are not only seeing an increase in demand again, we notice it too in the prices. They are about 10 percent higher compared to last year. This is still 20 percent lower than before the crisis, but we see an upward trend."

Unlike many Ecuadorian farms that reduced their volumes to Russia during the crisis, Everbloom did not. "We stayed on the same path and we therefore expect that our volumes will increase along with the increasing demand", he says.

Next to increasing their volumes to their current export markets, Everbloom is eager to explore new markets. "We receive increasingly more requests from China. We do not supply this market yet, but as our farm grows bigger, it would be worth to explore this market", he says.
