NL: Groenland BV expands on Green Park Aalsmeer

Groenland BV expands and develops its new business premises next to the current business building of Celieplant and Bouquetnet at the Japanlaan at Green Park Aalsmeer. On October 3rd, the festive start of the construction works was held. On a parcel of 23,800 m2 a building of 12,130 m2 will be built.

With this slogan, Groenland BV - Holding company of, among others, Celieplant, Bouquetnet and Bloominess - wants to make a statement for the future. Groenland BV facilitates various supporting services for its companies to generate efficiency and optimization. But also housing is facilitated by the company. In 2014, the current building at the Japanlaan 15 in Aalsmeer was completed and put into service by Celieplant and Bouquetnet. In particular, the sustainable way of building and applications such as solar panels, water recycling and purification, testifies to 'courage' and progressiveness. Here they not only do business in 'green' but also develop and think in green.

In order to accommodate all companies of Greenland BV based on the concept of sustainable business practices, construction company Hercuton has started the construction of a new industrial building next to the current building. The 12,130 m2 large industrial building will of course be built in the same way as the previous one. Again, use is made of a prefab concrete structure that fits a sustainable way of building. The completion is scheduled for spring 2018, after which an internal relocation will take place. Celieplant and Bouquetnet move their activities to the new building and Bloominess, now still located in Kudelstaart, will move into the current building.

Although the property is being developed in the same way as the present building, there are still some differences. Of course, after three years of usage and experience of the current accommodation, there are always things that can be improved, and especially in the field of recycling and reuse of materials some new provisions are made. In the new building, only 'clean' products are being used. The demand for completely ecologically cultivated products is ever increasing, the end user and thus the retailer only want clean bouquets and plants. These must therefore be processed and packaged in a fully ecologically responsible environment, and naturally this fits in totally with the philosophy of Groenland BV.

Normally, when the first pile is driven, there is a short reflection regarding this special occasion, but because it occurred in the middle of the summer holiday, and because Groenland BV likes to do things differently, it was not at the first pile but the placing of the first concrete column that time for reflection occurred. This was celebrated in a small group of staff and business relations. "Not that we do not want to throw a party, but it is very busy at the moment, and we want to do it right the first time, so we're going to celebrate the opening in spring 2018," explains director/owner John Celie.

Groenland BV is not only about sustainable business but also corporate social involvement. "For years, we have supported the foundation Ons Tweede Thuis in Aalsmeer, this foundation is for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and non-congenital brain injuries. Their slogan is YOU& I, and we at Groenland are happy to join them. In honor of our new building we want to offer a check to Ons Tweede Thuis."
