A new Big Bale press and three vertical silos for the storage and dosage of raw materials were recently taken into use at the production location of Klasmann-Deilmann Benelux in Schiedam. This will allow the processing of raw materials to be conducted even more hygienically, increase the production capacity of Big Bales by almost 50% and reduce the use of foil by over 25%. The changes to the processing process fully connect to the organisation's policy, which focuses on sustainability, quality and safety.
The new vertical silos replace the bunkers for the storage of raw materials and dose directly onto the two mixing lines, which means the chance of polluting is limited to a minimum and quality of the growth media is optimised.
Klasmann-Deilmann is a global supplier of substrates, raw materials and Growcoon plugs for horticulture and tree cultivation. The organisation has its own peat farms and production locations for alternative materials. The final control of all products takes places in their own labs.
