Concerns about Chinese export remain
Over the past two weeks nothing has happened that would indicate an improvement in the export of flower bulbs to the Chinese province of Yunnan. Rumors that the directors of three import companies would be released, could not be confirmed by Anthos chairman Henk Westerhof. This is reported by Bloembollen Visie.
According to Westerhof, the situation remains very worrying. "At the moment, these concerns are about two things. First of all, import inspections at the ports take much longer. This affects not only the batches intended for the three imprisoned importers, but also batches that are intended for other importers in China. In addition, there is mainly concern about the payment. After all, bank accounts from the three importers have been frozen and now there is no clarity about the payment of the bulbs that they bought."
The three import companies are not the only importers of flower bulbs in Yunnan and China, but together they control a substantial part of, in particular, lily imports.
