The rose was developed by rose breeder Kordes Roses, and was picked out in an early stage from their selections. After two years of extensive tests the people of Rosa Plaza are convinced that Monique has all the characteristics needed to be named after their sister/daughter. Both growing abilities and transportability are excellent. The roses are almost thornless. But most importantly, the Monique has an excellent vase life of more than two weeks in which she opens fully.

Meanwhile rose Monique has been planted extensively at the farm in Ziway, Ethiopia, and production is going well. The plan is to introduce Monique to the clocks at Royal FloraHolland during the week of the Trade Fair Aalsmeer 8, 9, 10 November 2017. The rose can always be viewed in the vase life testing room at FloraHolland Aalsmeer, and Monique can also be admired in their stand at the Trade Fair Aalsmeer.
