"Plumeria has a place in commercial production"

Since many years people love the Plumeria plants, especially as these plants remind them of vacation places they have been to. These bushes (which can grow up to 5-7 meters high) can be seen in destinations in Hawaii, South America and Asia. The flowers are available in many colors, and the scent is mesmerizing.

In commercial production the Plumeria definitely has a place. Plumeria plants are mainly grown in tropical climates for sale in landscaping or for patio planting in large pots. Worldwide there are some farms producing cuttings (the cuttings are about 25-30 cm long) for commercial purposes and selling mainly to growers who produce plants for landscaping.

At Fleurizon they work intensively with 4 farms, worldwide, where they obtain cuttings for shipping to landscape growers. They export to Europe and USA mainly. "Interesting to see is that we also get offered stems, where there are 3 growing points instead of the just one", says Frank de Greef, President/CEO of Fleurizon. "This gives a nicer plant and quicker enjoyment for the consumer. And the color? One farm we deal with has 40 colors available for commercial purposes, but the main shipments are with 4-5 colors. Cuttings are shipped mainly, but not only, in springtime."
