Total of six bioclimatic domes:

Complex structure and shading system for new Vietnamese VinPearl gardens

At the touristic VinPearl Land in Nha Trang, Vietnam a really nice and special greenhouse project recently has been completed. MTECHBUILD, a French company that is specialized in not so ordinary structures and architecture worked on the project. The French company aimed to reach far when they accepted to build the 6 bioclimatic domes at one of the most unique botanical parks in Vietnam.

The project, signed in December 2016, had to be completed and handed in by June 2017 and it incorporated a complex of six glass domes, thereof five of 36m diameter and the main one in the middle with a diameter of 51m, hosting collections of plants and flowers representing all different continents on Earth.

One of the biggest challenges was not only the erection of the six monumental metallic structures in record time, but also the enormous distance of 10,000 km separating the manufacturing site in France from the construction site in Vietnam. All this involved a highly precise production plan as well as incredibly accurate logistic skills and organization.

Simultaneously and on another side of the world, Novavert in Germany, was taking care of all the shading systems which perfectly had to match and fit in the metallic structure and would later on protect all plants and regulate the climate within the six domes.

Novavert’s entire technical equipment and HS² shading system were designed and made to measure in order to satisfy the very special and unique shape of the glass greenhouses.

The material chosen as shading was the well-known acrylic screen with aluminium stripes HS 885, which has been on the market for over 28 years, surely the best choice in terms of durability and UV-resistance (10 years warranty).

Here again there was a short time (7 weeks) available for conception, tailoring and shipping with air cargo of the shading system.

Below are some key figures illustrating the size and complexity of this assignment:

12,000m² of glass composing the 6 domes
61 containers of goods to be shipped from Europe to Vietnam
2,551 profiles holding the shading, for a total of 6.5t of aluminium
3,258 tailor-made shading screens, thereof 3,200 in trapezoidal and 58 triangular shapes for a total of 3.4t.
