Responses to departure FloraHolland CEO Lucas Vos

There's always speculation when the big boss leaves. In this case - Lucas Vos will be leaving his position of CEO of Royal FloraHolland as of January 1 and will be succeeded by the current CFO Steven van Schilfgaarde - the speculations are very varied. Google it: from praise for vision and leadership, to the exact opposite, it's all there.

Perhaps the most piercing argument comes from the trade itself. "The auction has in recent years, and in the last year and a half in particular, sat in the chair of the trade. In this sense we could have seen it coming," believes Peter Baak of trade company WBE Westland. "Recently the auction hasn't set itself up like the trade would like and this is why there have been persistent clashes."

He is referring to the item of Zembla a few months ago and the fuss around keeping the physical plant clocks, among others. Outsiders must have felt like the bull was in the china shop, but there also seemed to be more space for nuance in house. Perhaps this fight behind the scenes was thought of as being larger in house.

FNV
The immediate response from the FNV was that Vos' departure is a negative development for the employees. According to the union there has been unrest recently, partially because a lot of people from the top of the organisation have left. Besides this there has been little sign of the 2020 strategy, according to FNV director of Agrarian Green Jeroen Brandenburg. "The cao also ran out on June 30 and social plan expired on September 30. We are in the middle of negotiations on a new cao and social plan. These are being hugely delayed due to the departure of so many people."

Acclaim
At the same time there is praise, including from the member. Such a shame and we will miss him, according to two auction masters. People can also pick up responses along the lines of capable, visionary, bringer of new pep and perhaps the most heard and debated point in recent years: connector.

- and the opposite
Finally the allegation of 'career man' has been thrown around a lot. There seems to be a fun position coming up at Schiphol, Amsterdam Airport, but apart from this the ancient 'problem' of rotating jobs in the top regions of business life is brought up again. Vos himself has said he wanted to carry out the set strategy himself, which means that responses such a 'you said so yourself' and 'it's like professional footballers' are also going around. Questions are also being asked around the appointment of Steven van Schilfgaarde. The man has gone through a variety of functions in recent years. He has now experience at the helm of a cooperation and isn't a man who was raised between greenhouses, so to speak. At the same time the choice is obvious, as he was at least able to absorb the necessary 'file knowledge' recently.
