UK: New Covent Garden Market partners with Zipcar

New Covent Garden Market, London’s fresh food market, has announced a partnership with van and car sharing club Zipcar. Both companies have launched an initiative to make trips to the market easier for those who need a bigger boot or an extra vehicle for a big job. The move is part of the market’s ambitions to deliver lower emissions and keep environmental sustainability as a key focus.

Zipcar have 1,700 cars and vans on streets all across London to hire by the hour, day or week. All vehicles are available on a pay-as-you-go scheme. The scheme allows drivers the peace of mind that they won’t lose money if they cancel a trip due to a last-minute change.

The launch allows New Covent Garden Market customers and traders to get one year’s free business membership and £60 of driving credit to get their business on the road. You can also add unlimited drivers to the account for the first 30 days - which usually costs £12 - so the whole team can use the membership without the need to insure multiple drivers. Zipcar has also situated a van less than 100m from the market for ultimate ease.

Helen Evans, business development director for New Covent Garden Market, said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Zipcar on this initiative that will help support both our customers and traders. The partnership allows those using the market to deliver and collect big orders with ease, and with the high volume of Zipcars across the capital we are sure to see our London-centric businesses making great use of the vehicles.”
