EU decides: glyphosate license extended by five years

Glyphosate, the ingredient in Monsanto's Roundup that may or may not cause cancer, will be allowed to be sold and used within EU member states for the next five years. The European Commission decided this on Monday.

The five year extension is literally midway between allowing ten years and banning it. The parliament was aiming for a ban, but various member states disagreed.

The current license ends December 15.
