webinar, February 2

Photoperiodic responses and lighting strategies

Day length (photoperiod) impacts flowering of many greenhouse crops. However, there is no one-daylength fits all approach. Chris Currey (Iowa State University), Roberto Lopez (Michigan State University) and Neil Mattson (Cornell University) will discuss the photoperiod response groups of common bedding plants, flowering potted plants, vegetables, and herbs.

They will also discuss strategies for manipulating greenhouse photoperiods, as well as what equipment to use. They will tie everything together using case studies on how to use photoperiod to properly schedule bedding and potted flowering plants, and to avoid early flowering or dormancy of ornamental and edible crops.
