Roses Forever at the IPM Essen

New red Infinity rose in the spotlight at Roses Forever booth

For 25 consecutive years, Roses Forever has been an exhibitor at the IPM Essen. This year they're back again, but at a different location. They, like the other Danish growers, used to exhibit in hall 5, but this year they're exhibiting in the temporary Hall 14 and the foyer of the Grugahalle. At Roses Forever's new booth location, their Roses Forever pot roses and new red Infinity pot rose are put in the spotlight.

Smaller booths
The Danish hall at the IPM Essen moved and this is one of the major differences of the IPM Essen 2018. As the Messe Essen is being renovated, some areas are not ready, like hall 5. The nearly 100 Danish exhibitors will therefore be exhibiting in the temporary Hall 14 and the foyer of the Grugahalle. These halls together cover a smaller area than that of 'the old' hall 5 and the exhibitors are therefore forced to present their products in smaller booths.

Danish rose breeding company Roses Forever, used to have a large 66m2 booth for at the same location for 25 years in a row, but is now exhibiting in hall 14 (booth number 14A13) with a 15m2 booth. "The IPM Essen is one of the most important shows where we meet our existing and new growers and show them many of our potted mini and cut roses lines", says Rosa Eskelund, owner of the company.

What to put on display?
This year, however, she needs to make careful decisions what to show. "With a smaller booth, we have to adjust the assortment that we are putting on display and we decided to put our Roses Forever pot roses and our new red Infinity pot rose in the spotlight. But we will also show some of our edible roses and cut roses - and in particular the Inner Wheel Rose. This rose was baptized by the Danish HRH Princess Benedikte in 2015. Denmark is the partner country of the IPM Essen this year and for the ceremonial opening on the first day of the Trade Fair, Princess Benedikte will be expected too."

Open house Denmark
Even though with the smaller booth, the decision what to put on display is hard every year. For this reason, Eskelund is opening the doors of her trial greenhouse (on appointment) in Denmark for several years now. "We always have more to offer then we can put on display, so several years ago, we decided to open our doors, the week after the show, for growers who want to see all varieties that we are currently trialing. And this year, as we have a smaller booth, the interest seems to be high."
