Royal FloraHolland sees €4.7 billion turnover increase

Royal FloraHolland is closing 2017 with a turnover of 4.7 billion euro. This is a 1.2% increase on the previous year. This increase in turnover is due to higher prices of flowers and plants (+3.9% average) and a smaller delivery (-1.8%).

In 2017, Royal FloraHolland traded in 12 billion products in total. The detailed report with the definite figures for 2017 will be published later in the annual report in spring. For now, the figures by product group.

Cut flowers
The total turnover of cut flowers sold through Royal FloraHolland in 2017 was 2.7 billion euro. This is an increase of 0.4% on 2016. The volume of this product group decreased by 2.0%.

Indoor plants
The indoor plants product group had an increase in turnover of 1.1% amounting to 1.6 billion euro. This increase is due to the larger delivery that increased by 0.7%. The price was somewhat higher than last year, +0.4%.

Outdoor plants
The turnover of outdoor plants compared to 2016 grew by 7.1% to 395 billion euro. The volume decreased by 2.5%.

Auction clock and direct flow sales
There was an increase in the direct sales between grower and customer in 2017. The shift from the auction clock to direct sales accounted for a 3.7 percent point and was thereby higher than the previous year (1.9 percent point). The auction clock in 2017 accounted for 43.7% of the total turnover and direct sales accounted for 56.3%.
