India: New varieties to attract tourists to Tulip Garden

The state Jammu and Kashmir government is expecting a boost in tourism inflow with 50 varieties added to the Tulip Garden that is set to open at the end of March.

The Floriculture Department has planted around 50 varieties of tulips on 200 kanals of land [900,000 sq.ft.] at the garden this year.

In addition to tulips, other bulbous material grown in the garden includes 40 thousand hyacinths and other narcissus, daffodils and muscaria varieties.
