A freight forwarder's perspective:

Meeting the peak season demand of international floral markets

In recent years fresh cut flowers grown in the Andes, particularly those from Ecuador and Colombia, have repositioned themselves as most preferred among international floral markets. The region’s ideal altitude, climate, and geographical location enable optimum growing conditions to provide these flowers with their unique characteristics sought after worldwide. Valentine’s Day and Women’s Day are crucial holiday seasons for the South American floral industry, specifically for roses. The quantity of flowers exported from Ecuador and Colombia has grown by an average of 15% each year from 2015-17, according to figures from Expoflores (Ecuador) and Asocoflores (Colombia).

Logiztik Alliance Group is one of the region’s premier international freight forwarders, exporting over 9,000 tons of flowers from Ecuador (Quito) and Colombia (Bogotá and Medellín) during the combined 2018 Valentine’s Day and Women’s Day high season. Their market share of Ecuadorian flower exports is currently near 26%, ranking the company as the country’s principal forwarder. From Colombia they expect growth figures of near 20% for this year, positioning Logiztik Alliance Group as one of that country’s fastest growing floral forwarders.

Despite a challenging high season marked by overall demand for freight exceeding the region’s airline capacity, Logiztik Alliance Group employed over 20 chartered aircrafts and utilized its extra coolers to enable timely shipments of every box received. The company’s general manager, Troy Graham, stated, “We employ continuous improvement strategies year round focusing on technology, service, and infrastructure to ensure that both our partners at the farm level and our customers across the globe receive a seamless and worry free experience during their most critical season of the year.”

Increasing worldwide demand for South American flowers will continue to put additional constraint on the region’s capacity, as newer hotspots such as China and Australia grow into major global players. Logiztik Alliance Group welcomes the challenge and continues to use cutting edge technology and its growing worldwide presence to meet growing market demand.

Logiztik Alliance Group is headquartered in Quito and has regional offices in Bogotá, Medellin, Miami, Amsterdam, Moscow, and Shanghai with a multilingual staff available 24/7 to offer tailored services for your specific needs.
