NL: Annual afternoon of enjoying turban buttercups at Leendert van der Ende

It was probably the sixth or seventh time that Florensis organized the Rankonkelproef (the turban buttercup test) at the company of Leendert van der Ende in Maasdijk, the Netherlands. Of the 60 to 70 growers in the Netherlands - most of them quite small - half found their way to the nursery.

That is an excellent turnout, John de Wit of Florensis knows well. This company is indeed one of the mayor growers of these group of crops, and supplies the main part of the yearly required material. The seasonal product is taking off these days (but, just as with all spring crops, a little late because of the recent cold), and the inflow keeps on for a few weeks till the end of April / beginning of May.

On stage are, among others, the Elegance and Aazur which can be admired in several present and future colors. At the same time various existing breeds have been planted to make a proper comparison.

The turban buttercup is mainly grown in Italy and France. The most important breeders of this crop are the French Versem and the Italian Biancheri Creations.
