New handle that can handle bigger pictures

A regular tray handle usually has limited space to display the product and information. It annoyed a grower and together with German printing and media company Becker Etiketten, a new handle was designed; the so-called Tragedisplay (carry-display). "It combines the functionalities of both, a label and handle", says Sales Manager Okan Tüysüz. At the IPM Essen last January, it was presented for the first time and caught the eye of many visitors. Tüysüz has high hopes for this product for the next season.

Best of both worlds
The idea behind the display is to give the grower the best of both worlds; a strong handle and a marketing tool. "Actually, the Tragedisplay is a big label that functions as a handle. As a label, it is a good marketing tool as the grower can promote their products with a large picture and description. As a handle, it is strong, can carry a full packed tray and has all the benefits of another label/handle as it is water-, UV-, and tear- resistant.

Fits the trend
According to Tüysüz, the Tragedisplay fits the current trends in labels and packaging. "The demand for printed pot covers in Europe - our main market, for example has been increasing. The consumer in the garden center instantly wants to see how their product will look like when it is in full bloom."

As the Tragedisplay clearly shows the product too, Tüysüz has high hopes for this new product to succeed. "It always takes some time for new products to gain popularity. On top of that, it is more expensive than a regular label, but I think it will follow the pot cover trend; the printed pot cover is also more expensive than the regular hanging/stick/click labels, but growers are willing to pay this little extra."
