Construction of new logistics center begins

NL: Dillewijn Zwapak expands to keep up with growth

In the company of Dillewijn Zwapak, employees and invited guests, director Mark de Krosse and major shareholder Peter Vlug ceremonially kicked off construction of their new office and logistics center. The building is only a stone's throw away from the Aalsmeer flower auction.

"Today is not just the first foundation pile but also a milestone for us", says Mark de Krosse. "As a result of the growth of our company, we now work with three logistics centers located in different places, which of course is not ideal. When we designed our new building, service to our customers was central the whole time. Our new warehouse therefore not only offers more than 10,000m2 space for our inventory, but more importantly, we will completely automate the logistics process. The new building is being constructed with the latest environmental insights, so as an organization we are really going to be future proof I think."

Mark de Krosse explains what the new building will look like.

The construction of the new logistics center has suffered some delays. Originally the plan was to begin construction in September of last year, but paperwork and red tape took longer than expected. The relocation date has now shifted to November. First the entire logistics department will move to the new premises in Amstelveen. In December the remaining office staff will follow and the showroom will also be opened.

The warehouse will occupy 4 x 2,500 m2 and be 14 meters high. The internal logistics and order picking process will be highly automated, which, in combination with the merging of the different locations, will save a lot on labor costs. More information and an artist impression of the new building can be found here.
