NL: Spring cleaning for reflectors starts

Saving energy and improving light output are important topics in horticulture. People are constantly looking for improvements, but sometimes they forget that a lot of profit can be achieved with relatively obvious, easily to be anticipated factors. An example is cleaning and keeping the light fixtures in the greenhouse clean. At Lightshine, a well-known company in this field, the 'washing season' has started.

Recently, the company signs have been placed on the façade!

"With the same ingenuity as the growers themselves, we make this normally labor-intensive task a fast and effective job", says Marcel van den Bogert. "With the mobile Lightshine cleaning machines we quickly restore the luminaires to perfect condition, which not only results in a much higher light output, but also in reduced energy consumption."

From practice it would appear that the light output can improve by up to 9% by cleaning the reflectors and lamps. Lightshine offers customers at home and abroad a 'total package' of dismantling, cleaning of reflectors and lamps and finally the reassembly of the luminaires. In addition, GreenPower LED interlight modules can also be cleaned.

The timing when growers decide to wash the luminaires, of course, differs, but Marcel still notices a drift movement. For Lightshine the 'season' starts in May and then continues until December, after which a few quieter months follow. "But we're keeping busy. In the winter we are busy enough with our other company CleanCarts with cleaning of shopping carts and baskets."
