Dekker Chrysanten on tour

"The mono bouquet trend has also passed in Kazakhstan"

Last week Warja Abrosimova, Marketing Manager Eastern Europe at Dekker Chrysanten, visited several wholesalers and other market parties in Kazakhstan. This week the company is also present at the floriculture fair in Astana. In their own words, the company knows the Kazakh market well and every year various activities are organized with buyers and sellers from local wholesalers and with the assistance of several leading flower arrangers. Dekker brings the products to the attention of local wholesalers and florists through master classes, workshops and shows.

Warja: "We do not only use our chrysanthemums, but also other products from leading Dutch growers. The time of the mono bouquet of disbudded or spray chrysanthemums has also passed here, but you still can come across it.

"Our goal is to teach the trade how to make a beautiful bouquet that combines chrysanthemums with other products. We want to bring local arrangers to a higher level and develop the market even further."

The transport of the flowers for the fair in Astana was unexpectedly delayed. In total, the flowers took over a week to arrive. "That is also something that can happen, and you cannot always prevent it," Warja puts in perspective, "but thanks to the good shelf life of our varieties, we were able to decorate a beautiful photo area with Dekker Chrysanthemums at the fair."

In collaboration with arrangers Roman Steinhauer (second in Europe in 2016) and Vadim Kazanskiy (best Russian arranger in 2011) visitors were inspired with, among others, AAA Santinis, disbudded and spray chrysanthemums from Dekker. In addition, the assortment of Holstein Flowers, Amazing Astilbe and De Haas Callas were presented.

Every year Dekker supports the demonstrations at the fair in Astana and the accompanying championship. The latest trends for 2018, with purple and dark pink colors and with the Romanticism as theme, were prevailing, according to their own words. Visitors were given an explanation in Russian during the demonstrations about the latest floristic trends. Together with Roman Steinhauer and Vadim Kazanskiy, Dekker also organized master classes for wholesaler Kazflor and florists from their own retail chain. This included the support of supplier DGI.

Finally, the past few days Warja also visited the other big city in Kazakhstan: Almaty. Also there a flower and plant fair is held annually, which is mainly reminiscent of a festive and colorful market. Warja: "Here all big players meet. They have known each other for years and are often family." With the help of Enigma Flowers and Plants, Dekker gave a show at the largest Kazakh importer 3D known as Gul Market. The show was arranged by Vadim Kazanskiy.
