Ecuador: Commercial and future rose varieties on display at Plantec

New varieties, future varieties and renovations, it was all on display at Plantec Ecuador's open house that took place last month. 180 of their partners - "partners because the rose grower is our partner", says Aviram Krell - came from every part of Ecuador to walk through our greenhouses full of new commercial and future varieties. "Our guests also had a chance to walk through our new Vase Life Room, which was recently completed in order to show the varieties in the standard conditions of homes in the US."

For many years Plantec has held open houses, and over the years, they have implemented new strategies to make sure that their growers have the chance to walk through their greenhouse with one of Plantec's guides. One of these new changes is that instead of inviting all their clients at the same time of the same day, as they used to do in the past, they are now inviting the Growers to come at specific time slots over a span of three days. "In this way, we are never too busy to be able to properly attend them", says Aviram Krell of Plantec Ecuador.

And this strategy seems to pay off. "We had a fantastic time showing off our 2018 collection, with varieties such as Enjoy(R) (pink), Moonstone(R) (white), and Shimmer(R) (peach) from Kordes Roses; Pompeii(R) (sand), Highlight(R) (white), and Hilux(R) (orange) from Interplant Roses, White O’hara(R) (white) from Delbard, and Nexus(R) (orange), Impact(R) (yellow), and Tycoon(R) (ochre) from GrandiFlora. A big help to our event was our newest Sales member, Edgar Carnizares. Edgar’s experience as an agronomist made his input and opinions indispensable for our clients. Here we have Edgar posing next to his favorite yellow variety, Impact!"

Clients also loved walking through their vase life room, and getting a sneak peek at Plantec's future varieties which will be available for commercial growing very soon.
"The new Vase Life Room, was an exceptional hit, with our Growers amazed that we maintain our flowers in such high relative humidity and temperature. This was done in a calculated decision by our variety selectors, who wanted to avoid having laboratory conditions in favor of having more realistic look at how our varieties will behave in the final client's homes." - Aviram Krell

"Plantec sees this year's open house as a fantastic success in Breeder-Client relations and is already looking forward to next years open house."
