Nursery Roobeek and Dutch Garden Plant merging

As of April 1 2018 Nursery Roobeek is part of Dutch Garden Plants BV from Deurne (DGP). DGP will, in the future, conduct part of its activities from this location. Nursery Roobeek had two options, either to be taken over or to go out of business, and the employees are very happy with the choice of DGP. The owners are also counting themselves lucky with this extension of their company. It is not only the 10 hectare surface of the nursery that gives the company opportunities for expansion in the future, but the staff of the nursery also gives DGP a positive boost to the future. The 50 employees of the nursery will be great added value to DGP in the future, but will also be deployed in activities related to the green sector.

Nursery Roobeek started its activities in 1983 and has grown to be a hallmark in conifer growing in the last 10 years. Pot grown conifers P21, mostly Thuja Smaragd, Brabant, and Yellow Ribbon of 80+ to 140+ make up the major part of the inventory. The supply furthermore consist for a large part of trunks with bulb P15 of the aforementioned assortment, completed with Chamaecyparis Ellwoodii, and Chamaecyparis Nana Gracilis is being grown in various sizes in large quantities.

When the owners of Dutch Garden Plants found out that the nursery was about to close, the decision to take over the nursery in its present form was quickly taken. All employees, including management, remain at the nursery and the high quality assortment will remain unchanged. The assortment may be expanded in the future, but the emphasis on quality remains, as will all employees. Nursery Roobeek will remain a place where those who cannot compete on the regular job market can find employment.

The nursery has always been staffed by people who have been ill equipped for the regular job market. In that capacity it has always been a part of the Social Employment Program for the municipalities Beesel, Bergen and Venlo. In this sector a lot has changed in the recent times however, and when the new participation law came into effect the decision was made to discontinue the Program for the nursery. Besides the nursery activities, lots of work is being done for others in the past years. Think of potting, cleaning of pots, cutting of trunks, decorating Christmas trees and Easter branches, and other work related to 'green'. The package of related activities will be extended in the future. Do you have work that requires manual labor? Think about nursery Roobeek.
