EU: Syngenta presents new Impatiens walleriana series Imara
Syngenta Flowers reintroduces the Impatiens walleriana with the new Imara series. The plant will be marketed in the United Kingdom, Germany, France and the Netherlands.
Mildew
Since the widespread outbreak of downy mildew in 2011, the market for Impatiens walleriana has shrunk drastically. Imara, however, is resistant to this disease, so growers can bring the popular plant back into production and retailers can put this crowd favorite back on sale and revive the market for Impatiens walleriana.
Guy Clapham
"Our first tests with the Imara Impatiens walleriana showed significantly more disease resistance than other Impatiens walleriana that we have cultivated. We are particularly impressed by the Imara plant structure and have discovered that it is very strong and full of flowers. We are very pleased to be able to cultivate Impatiens walleriana again and we are sure that customers will be elated to have them in their garden," according to Sales Manager Guy Clapham.
