"But it is still top sport"

Emsflower supplies 700,000 Terrazza pot roses every year

This is the time of Terrazza roses, pot roses from De Ruiter Innovations for gardens, balconies, and patios in 15 or 17 cm pots. German company Emsfllower GmbH produces around 700,000 each year for large German supermarkets. Jeroen Stamsnijder, Emsflower: "We have been doing this for seven years, but it still is top sport."

Jeroen Stamsnijder

"We like to control the processes and we therefore produce the starting material ourselves, which we draw from our own plants. We do not have to maintain a stock nursery and we know what we are dealing with." According to Jeroen there is an element of luck. "We only know how large the orders will be when we have made the cuttings, but based on experiences from the past we will figure it out."

"The cycle of harvesting cuttings to a sell-able plant takes a year. For a uniform final product you have to be alert all year round, and sort well in growth and harvest. Around 20% of our cuttings do not make it into a sell-able plant, and we make sure we always have something left. Those plants are thrown away, sold, or bred further and offered again later.

"In this way we can offer a constant product throughout the entire season, and the Terrazza is well suited for this purpose. They grow well, bud well, cluster well and are firm. A beautiful assortment which is still being improved. It's great De Ruiter includes us in those improvements."
