Turkey: Alanya Municipality saves 600,000 USD by growing own flowers, plants for its parks

The municipality of Alanya established its own greenhouse for flowers and plants and saved around 600,000 USD annually.

Alanya Mayor Adem Murat Yucel: “We are growing and saving money. That money we spend on our citizens to provide them better services. We set up this greenhouse about 2 years ago so we grow all the flowers and plants we use in our parks and green areas, thus we make significant cost savings. The production facility consists of 85,000 square feet of open field and 35,000 square feet of greenhouse. In the last 4 years, we have more than doubled the green areas in our municipality from 10 million square feet to 25 million square feet. We have planted 1.4 million flowers and plants last year.”
