In two weeks, the first edition of the Garden Trials and Trade 2018 will take place. From June 12-14, 34 companies, including a number of foreign participants, will present their novelties and innovations in the field of woody plants and perennials in the Plantarium building at the International Trade Centre in Boskoop-Hazerswoude, the Netherlands. There will be a lot of novelties on display and below you can find the first part of the novelties that have been notified for the novelty inspection at Garden Trials and Trade.

Acer pseudoplatanus 'Hermitage'

The plant remains variegated for longer than existing cultivars and the colours are repeated in small spots on the larger patches. The palmate leaves are a feast for the eyes. The hardy plant remains compact, is ideal for use as an avenue tree and is extremely hardy. 'Hermitage' was bred by Gordon Ross Thomas from Scotland and is protected under plant breeding legislation. The plant was bred by Oprins Plant from Rijkevorsel, Belgium and is protected under plant breeding legislation. Van Vliet New Plants from Stroe submitted the plant for the novelty showcase and also placed it on the market.

In 2004, 'Sun on the Sky' was a sport of the 'Sanders Blue Select'. Picea glauca 'Sun on the Sky' is a slow-growing conifer with a dense, compact and upright growth.
