Creating new markets for responsibly grown food and flowers

A number of speakers/panellists and their sessions have been confirmed for the GlobalGAP Summit, which will take place November 5-7 in Lima, Peru.

Matthew Frost, CEO Spinneys Dubai LLC, will showcase the retailer’s trial of the GGN Consumer Label for Fruits and Vegetables, and the benefits of introducing consumer facing communication based on GlobalGAP certification. He joins other C-level speakers who will share their innovative success stories to unlock barriers of traditional markets and supply chains.

Plenary Session IV: Transparency Unlimited? The Future of Food Retailing
Date: 7 Nov, 4-5 p.m.

Cindy Jiang, Senior Director Global Food and Packaging Safety, Global Supply Chain & Sustainability, McDonald's Corporation, discusses with produce safety experts and major retail brand representatives their approaches toward better serving customers by understanding global customer expectations on food safety and quality in a social media world, and how certification standards can adapt to offer effective complementary solutions.

Breakout Session 2A: Zero Risk Promised?
Date: 6 Nov, 4-5 p.m.

Karim Dostmohamed, CEO of Frigoken Ltd., the largest GlobalGAP certified smallholder group in Africa, will share his formula for successfully managing large groups via contract farming, as part of a panel discussion on smart group certification solutions including participative certification models, and intelligent IT solutions.

Breakout Session 3C: Go for Small
Date: 7 Nov, 9-10 a.m.

Mari Carmen Morales, Quality and Systems Manager, Anecoop S. Coop., the largest Spanish exporter of fruit and vegetables, owner of the naturane Scheme, will join other panellists to discuss the challenges of stopping residue exceedance. Topics include the impact of new on-site testing kits, the initial introduction of zero residue programs, the harmonization efforts among the several residue monitory systems currently operating successfully on the market, and the ability of sharing residue testing data in a responsible way.
