Iran to host International Symposium on Cut Flowers

The ISCF 2019 (International Symposium on Cut Flowers) will be held in Tehran, Iran from 9th to 12th March 2019, under the auspices of the International Society of Horticultural Sciences (ISHS).

The plenary lectures will be given by leading scientists in diverse fields related to cut flowers including physiology, biotechnology, breeding, greenhouse management, greenhouse technology, climate control, nutrition, photosynthesis, postharvest, marketing and any other issues related to cut flowers.

This event is an opportunity to bring together researchers, academics, students, growers, technicians, and other professionals in cut flower industry to share knowledge and ideas, as well as to discuss the state of the art and future perspectives for improving and developing cut flowers production and marketing.

Tehran is the largest producer of cut flowers in the Middle East. With a population of around 8.8 million in the city and 15 million in its larger metropolitan area, it is the most populous city in Iran and Western Asia, and it has the second-largest metropolitan area in the Middle East. Tehran, as one of the main tourist destinations in Iran has many museums and tourist attractions.

University of Tehran is Iran's oldest modern university has been nicknamed as the mother University of Iran. It is the symbol of higher education in Iran and admission to the university is very competitive and is limited to the top one percent of students who pass the national entrance examination administered yearly by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.
