From the floor to the business cards: everything is bamboo

From the floor of the stand to the business cards on the desk. At Van Nifterik they are enthusiastic about bamboo as a raw material. "The material is 100% biodegradable and therefore sustainable," says representative Martin Cromwijk during the Greentech in Amsterdam. "An additional advantage is that it grows very fast. Four to six years after harvesting, it can be cut again."

The three men from Van Nifterik at the Greentech: Alex van Nifterik, Martin Cromwijk and Rene Ratterman.

The Van Nifterik bamboo support materials are produced in China and from there stored in the Netherlands or delivered directly to the grower. "The bamboo forests are owned by the Chinese government, and are leased to companies," Martin explains. "We do not exploit forests, but with our own factory and office in China we have good control over the process from raw bamboo to beautiful end product."

Around 85% of the assortment consists of bamboo. In addition, the Dutch company also supplies metal and plastic support materials. "They have the advantage of bending in all possible shapes."

Bamboo, however, is not only limited to the straight sticks beside an orchid or hydrangea. During the fair in Amsterdam the company from Ede shows all that can be done with bamboo supports.

"By applying unusual forms, the grower can distinguish himself with his product", Martin explains. "Furthermore, we can wax the bamboo in various colors or apply a nice print. What could be better than, together with the customer, establishing a final product, with which he can improve his sales?"
