Zambesi is the new number 1 of Lily League

The variety Zambesi is chosen as this year’s most popular lily by visitors of the Dutch Lily Days and online voters across the world. The outcome of this year’s Lily League also brought a new winning contestant. Amy Lee of Formosa Horticulture in Taiwan wins a free flight ticket to the Dutch Lily Days 2019 or a free traveler's cheque of € 1,000.

The election of the 50 most valuable lily varieties took place in the context of the Dutch Lily Days. The annual event was held this year for the seventh time. Between June 5-8, 14 lily companies, both breeders and exporters, opened up their testing greenhouses to show professionals and lily enthusiasts the varieties of today and tomorrow. All visitors were invited to send their top 10 favorite lilies. The lines closed on June 13th. Lily League, an initiative of Onings Holland Flowerbulbs, received many responses.

Participants could cast their votes online at www.lilyleague.com, or at the test greenhouse of Onings. After collecting all the votes, the 3 varieties that received most points were Zambesi (#1), Tabledance (#2) and Touchstone (#3).

The top-50 will be displayed on a colourful poster. The poster is available at Onings Holland and can be sent on request.
