Richard McKenna steps down as IPPS president

Following Richard McKenna's decision to step down as President of the IPPS, Tim Lawrance-Owen, Past (now caretaker) President IPPS Europe, has issued the following statement:

"In the last week Richard McKenna, who is the President currently has, with regret, had to take the decision to step down from his posts in the IPPS. As many of you will know, he directs not just one, but two wholesale nurseries in Kent alongside bringing up a young family. As if that weren’t enough, he has for many years supported the IPPS on the committee and more recently served 3 years on the IPPS International Board as Alternate (support and learning the ropes) then Director representing Europe. After this tricky Spring season, Richard has taken the brave and wise decision to allow more time to concentrate on priorities such as family and business. Please join me in thanking him for his committed service with the IPPS and wishing him a settled and prosperous year.

"I joined him on the International Board last year for the Conference, so was the Alternate Director. I have also been supporting Richard in his IPPS Europe President role. I have offered to take on his roles and on a conference call with the International Board on Tuesday, was welcomed as the now current Director.

"Richard has always been a keen advocate of getting involved in serving IPPS because he knows that however much or little you put in, the rewards more than compensate! I can testify to this equation myself and please do contact us if you have something (a visit/workshop/article) that you think might interest others, members or not. We would love to hear from you.

"I will be travelling to New York to join the International tour and conference in mid-September before coming over to the conference in Breda, which has been well organized by Ben Gregory. Please take a look and book to come along; here is the booking form:

"I look forward to seeing many of you 125 current members at the conference."
