US: New heuchera is bred to fill landscapes

Terra Nova Nurseries announced a sneak peek of Heuchera Grande Amethyst PPAF ('TNHEUGA'). This variety has a large mounding habit and is bred to fill landscapes.

Heuchera Grande Amethyst has purple, wavy leaves and flowers on medium-height stalks that bloom in late summer. This perennial performs well in Oregon, and areas throughout the Midwest, East Coast and Deep South.

U.S.D.A. Hardiness Zones for Heuchera Grande Amethyst are four to nine, and the variety offers the ability for full-sun exposure. Mature plant height is 14’, with a width of 28’, and an extended flower height of 30’.

Special uses allow the new variety to be a hummingbird attractor and a colorful addition in a winter landscape. The Heuchera Grande Black is a landscape or container plant and grows well in the sun or shade. Colorful companions include Terra Nova Nurseries’ Sedum ‘Dark Magic’, Eucomis ‘Glow Sticks’ and Gaillardia ‘Sun Flare’.

Terra Nova Nurseries has created a “Plant Profile” page and “Grower Recipe” specific to this new variety, so growers interested in orders can learn about growing habits, plant characteristics, fertilization recommendations, water requirements, and other insights provided by the breeding team. These documents can be viewed and downloaded for printing at: www.terranovanurseries.com. Growers can contact their Terra Nova Nurseries representatives or email the sales team at sales@terranovanurseries.com.
