At Koelnmesse in passage hall 4/5 at stand number B003, Selecta One presents its concepts Autumn Friends – autumnal mixed pots for late summer and autumn, and Nature Garden – insect-friendly plants from the Selecta assortment – at this year’s spoga+gafa from 2 to 4 September. Moreover, the breeding company participates in the trade fair campaign ‘Grab and Go’ and refreshes the Boulevard of ideas with plants of its assortment and with attractive concepts.
The international garden trade fair spoga+gafa once again takes place in the beginning of September 2018 in Cologne, Germany. Latest trends will be presented there, for example, in the area of garden equipment, garden furniture and modern utensils for barbecue. The trade fair covers the overall offer of the industry at a glance.
The breeder of ornamental plants, Selecta One, exhibits there again this year and is one of the few companies on the fair which covers the topic of plants. The presence on the trend fair is essential for the producer of young plants. “To a garden or a terrace belongs not only a high-performance grill and trendy furniture – without plants this is nothing. That’s why we have been involved in the spoga+gafa for years already. What would a relaxed barbecue evening or a beautifully arranged terrace be without suitable plants? The spoga+gafa is an important meeting point for us, where we can get together to network and discuss about trends and also to go in the right direction in the topic of plants”, says Richard Petri, Director of Marketing & Product Management at Selecta one. In its booth, Selecta one presents its trend concepts Autumn Friends and Nature Garden.
Autumn Friends – Selecta’s mixed pots for late summer and autumn
Convenience is in vogue and plant sales increase in autumn. These are two arguments for Selecta one’s Autumn Friends and for its sale in late summer and autumn. The tested plant mixes with Lavender and a wide range of carnations ensure long-lasting and late flowers and an attractive appearance until about the end of November. More advantages are the short cultivation time and high durability due, in particular to the excellent flowering durability of carnations. The compactness of the varieties used, forms attractive combinations – the components keep a tidy appearance and do not grow into each other.
Nature Garden – insect-friendly plants from the Selecta assortment
Results of the Selecta trials on insect-friendly plants are incorporated into the concept Nature Garden. The project for the development and implementation of a biodiversity breeding program to increase the urban green for insects was conducted in cooperation with the LVG Heidelberg, the Nursery Staudenrausch and the Bee Research Institute of Hohenheim (Stuttgart) in summer 2017. The aim was to get information about which varieties mostly attract insects and contribute to their nutrition. The outcome are the top 10 of insect-friendly B&B-varieties of the Selecta assortment, which include amongst others the Dahlias Krishna and Shari, Lavender Les Bleus Antoine and Bracteantha Mohave Yellow.
The spoga+gafa trade fair concept includes again plant trend topics at the point of sale which are the focus of the POS Green Solution Islands. Selecta one takes part in the ‘Grab and Go’ concept of the fair with its mini Pink Kisses. On the Boulevard of ideas, where innovations and product novelties are shown, there will be plants – also novelties – from the Selecta assortment and suitable attractive concepts to see.
