Ethiopia: Qualirosa expands and triples farm acreage

This year, rose grower Qualirosa is increasing considerably, both in production and the diversity of varieties. In the past year it began its first expansion from 8 to 24 hectares of production. All facilities on the farm in Ethiopia will be renewed, in order to prepare for the future. Through a stepwise approach the new greenhouse is taken into production and around autumn the expansion will be completed.

Qualirosa stands for quality
“Qualirosa stands for quality, which means that we, as a company, want to be the best in our segment,” says Martin van de Lubbe, who is responsible for the dutch side of Qualirosa. At the bottom of the logo, are the words: ‘Meet the celebrity brand of roses', underlining it again. The lines of communication between Ethiopia and the Netherlands are short to ensure the quality.

From the trade Martin receives, by his own account, compliments for the tightness of his product. “It requires sound work to ensure a high level, to be aimed at quality is a long term strategy,” says van de Lubbe. “Companies who share this vision find each other.”

Variety
The assortment of Qualirosa consists of a growing number of exclusive varieties. Among which are the Clustar Roses, 5 varieties of premium cluster roses such as the Bombastic spray rose and the large headed roses such as Chapeau, Jumilia and Paradiso are available. The mixes, which are also available in the webshop, are loved. With the growing assortment list the company wants to provide its customers with an increasingly large and broad assortment.

Novelties
In the course of 2016 they will introduce 15 new varieties. These will mainly be large headed buds. The company regularly publishes newsletters, to keep you up to date on new introductions.

Each day of the week a fresh supply arrives, which are subsequently sold through both the webshop, and through product links.
