Belgium: Copertiz new member RHP quality mark for substrates
The production of coir mainly occurs in India and Sri Lanka. Before coir is suitable for application in the horticulture industry, it is processed according to the RHP standards to guarantee a safe use. The coir must lack diseases and weeds, the salt contents must fall within a certain range and the release of sodium and potassium must be avoided. With the RHP certificate the grower is sure that he can rely on a safe product.
From a broad experience in substrates, Copertiz was founded in 2010 by the owners Marc van Dael and Luc Weerts. With coir as most important brick, Copertiz strives for a prominent role in the various areas where coir products and – substrates can be used. Entirely in line with the RHP-procedures the company takes care of the origin and the composition of the supplied raw materials. Copertiz itself guarantees the production, handling, packaging and storage of both bulk products and products packed in plastic bags.
RHP certified substrates guarantee an optimal start of the culture. It offers security that the substrate complies with the right quality standards concerning water and air contents, pH and EC. It also offers the confidence that the substrate is pure and clean and that there are no risks for a safe use in the culture. The RHP quality mark guarantees the quality of growing media in the chain, from raw material production till processing and delivery at the company of the user.
